My name is Mary Pelling and I run Pink Spaghetti PA Services Luton & Hemel Hempstead. Pink Spaghetti is a Virtual Assistant franchise, and we all cover different territories. My territory covers areas of North Hertfordshire and South Bedfordshire including Luton, Dunstable, Houghton Regis, Flitwick, Ampthill, Silsoe, Toddington, Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead, along with part of Harpenden.
I live in a hamlet outside Luton called Cockernhoe which has only a small school and a prefabricated church which is over 100 years old. My nearest shop is a mile away!
I started my business when I was made redundant and was looking for a way to use my wealth of experience as an Executive PA, Administrator and Training & Events Coordinator to help people to run their businesses more effectively. I am a great believer in ‘Only Do What Only You Can Do’ and outsource the rest to someone who has experience in the areas you don’t – that way, you can grow your business and not worry about the back office things like bookkeeping, social media, preparing reports and presentations or customer databases. A 25th Hour in the day and a One Stop Shop for all things administration!
Although I only started my business quite recently, I have over 30 years of diverse experience as an administrator and technical librarian; stock control through to Senior PA; SEN teaching assistant; Programme/Events Coordinator and Training Coordinator; most recently Executive PA to a finance director with a range of other roles in customer service and project administration in between. Whatever a role requires, that is what I do and whatever is needed I have probably done it before! I never say no to a task and treat everything as a learning experience.
I am highly motivated and professional with excellent organisational skills and a highly successful approach to customer service. I love the challenge of assessing, improving and managing procedures to enhance productivity and efficiency. I like to use my creativity to break down and solve challenges.
I am proficient in Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Publisher and also utilise Xero, Capsule CRM and have worked as a volunteer for Team Luton Swimming Club where I organised swimming competitions using dedicated SportSystems software. I enjoy learning how to use new systems so, if you need me to use something different, I will happily rise to that challenge!
Why a virtual assistant?

Cloud Implementation Company
For this expanding company, my remit is to manage the contractors who are working on various projects, ensuring that each new contractor is properly contracted, that contract extensions are processed, that they fill in their timesheets weekly and their invoices accurately reflect the hours they work. I also monitor holiday requests for all staff to ensure there is always resource to cover all their projects. Having worked with many of the partners at the company before, they already know and appreciate the value I can bring to their organisation.
Property Management Company
This client manages a residential property and needed someone to pull together accounts for 2020, checking and reconciling all works, invoices, service charges and other costs and income against bank statements. This information was spread across various documents and was difficult to manage. All of this information is now in a single spreadsheet and in a format which can be either used by the company to manage their accounts or by myself to carry out that task on their behalf.
I offer an ‘Office Management’ type of service for this Hertfordshire based company – taking care of banking and invoicing, answering customer calls and emails, booking appointments, ordering supplies and other ad hoc duties as required. As well as a Virtual Assistant role, this also include 1 or 2 mornings a week at the clients office address to sort mail and deal with customers, not something I usually offer but in this case, that is what the client needed.
I was asked to carry out a free Facebook Healthcheck for this company based in Bedfordshire – this is a service offered as standard by Pink Spaghetti PAs. As a result, the client asked me to design and update cover photos and logos for her Facebook page and website along with a design for business cards and a logo template to use for social media.
