What We Learned from Our 2026 Conference
And What It Means for Anyone Thinking About Starting a Virtual Assistant Business
There’s something really special about getting everyone together in one room.
Our Pink Spaghetti Annual Conference 2026 was exactly that, a day full of energy, ideas and genuine connection. It’s always one of the highlights of our year, but this one felt particularly uplifting.
Yes, there were brilliant speakers and practical sessions, but what really stood out was the feeling in the room. A group of people, all running their own Virtual Assistant businesses, supporting each other, sharing ideas and celebrating how far they’ve come.
A reminder of what’s possible
One of the biggest takeaways from the day was just how much is possible when you back yourself and have the right support around you.
We heard so many stories of growth. Franchisees who had built thriving client bases, expanded their teams, increased their confidence and created businesses that genuinely work around their lives.
It wasn’t about overnight success. It was about steady, sustainable progress and the confidence that builds along the way.
This came up again and again throughout the day.
For many of our franchisees, the reason they started their business wasn’t just about income. It was about flexibility, freedom and having more control over their time.
Whether that’s doing the school run, taking a mid-morning break, or simply having the headspace to enjoy what they’re building, it’s about creating a business that fits around life, not the other way round. And seeing so many people actually living that was incredibly powerful.
You’re in business for yourself, not by yourself.
If there’s one thing the conference really brings to life, it’s this. Yes, every franchisee runs their own business. But they’re also part of a network that genuinely supports each other.
Throughout the day, people were sharing ideas, offering advice, recommending clients and celebrating each other’s wins. There’s no sense of competition, just collaboration.
That kind of environment makes a huge difference, especially when you’re building something new. Confidence grows with support.
Another really positive theme was confidence. Not just in the work our franchisees do, but in how they talk about their businesses, how they price their services and how they show up. For many, that confidence has grown over time, helped by training, mentoring and being surrounded by people who understand exactly what they’re doing.
And when confidence grows, so does everything else. Small changes, big impact.
There were also so many practical, actionable ideas shared throughout the day. From simple ways to improve visibility on LinkedIn, to better ways of working with clients, to using tools that save time and energy.
It’s often the small changes that make the biggest difference, and our franchisees left with plenty of ideas to take straight back into their businesses.
So what does this mean for you? If you’re at a point where you’re thinking about your next step, whether that’s returning to work, changing direction or starting your own business, this is what we’d say.
You don’t have to have all the answers.
You don’t have to do it on your own.
And you don’t have to settle for something that doesn’t fit your life.
There is another way.
